The negative influence of celebrity lifestyle on students has reshapened their ideologies in basic day to day activities.
Celebrities possess a strong magnitude of power to influence
the lifestyle trends of students collectively thereby living a role of choice
in the way of life, manner of thinking and character.
Basically, celebrities are always looked up to as role
models by the general public and are often regarded as pioneers of fashion,
material things, things in vogue which majorly attract students. Studies prove
that teenagers and adults who are students tend to adore a celebrity either
great or small therefore characters portrayed by such celebrities are
manifested. Students are so engrossed to the lifestyle of celebrities and are
quickly adapted to.
To some extent, celebrities control the fashion trends,
cultural dispositions and the way in which people function in the society
thereby dictating some trends that go viral in the society. There are so many
negativities associated with celebrities who hold immense influence over
students, who are also fans of them. Teenagers who are also students easily
adapt to any way of life, which seems cool, trendy and in vogue.
Celebrity role models such as maheeda who has had a lot of
internet nude pictures scandals would basically have a bad effect on her fans
or target audience, female students are now seen dressing half hazardly, almost
nude to school all in the name of fashion and what celebrities wear for shows
or events which attracts sexual harassments, incest, rape and related harrassments.
In an interview, with a
seasoned tutor Mr felix Nosa at
the brains city college, he said that “the lifestyle of major celebrities in
the society has highly deviated the students from their normal way of life, it
has brought about negativity which has really made modern day students
unserious with their academics, students are no more found in affairs pertaining
to their academics they are rather found doing dubious things to make money
fast. Some students behave like musicians, they adapt to these reckless
lifestyles because it is what’s trending, celebrities control some social class
in the economy, but in this case, students just want to be like them at all
means, without making or following the due process involved. Students no more
attend classes regularly, some dress half naked to school with no regards for
the school premises, the recent lifestyle of celebrities has negatively
influenced the students”.
Students, tend to enjoy more of celebrity lifestyle trends
than academics which is gradually ruining their educational pursuit. With top
music acts like Davido who posts pictures flaunting new cars, women money and
accessories on social media would actually mislead young students to drop out
of school, and get into some dubious means of making money, get into crime just
to get wealth and end up lay abouts in the streets. Immorality is not seen as
students do not let instances like this hinder their idols likeablilty. students
have become more liable to things that are wrong because they constantly see
their idols well packaged and very attractive not knowing their source or means
of wealth.
In some recent development, to evaluate how celebrities have
become so influential, teenagers who are students adore almost all attributes
put up by them, some students in universities are now found with tattoos,
piercings, multi colour hair style even
in both gender, just because of some seen influence. Students thereby appear in
this kind of carved personalities, which does not edify them in school. Students no longer pay attention to academics

Moreover, students are no more found in educative issues, no
more flair or interest for education, due to the luxirous way of life being
portrayed by celebrities. Students pretend to be who they are not, living a
fake kind of lifestyle following this deceptive tide, students begin to degrade
in school activities which inevitably ruins their prospects towards academics.
Celebrities are categorized among the movers and shakers of
the society, due to prominence, fame and wealth, whereby affecting lives
negatively or positively, students are now seen living life in a way they are
not capable of putting up with on the long run. Students now emulate such
lifestyles different from what they learnt both at home or in school, the zeal
and focus towards education is being devalued.
However, parental care, quality sense of morality and ethics
from parents, frequent teachings on morality in school and churches should be
enacted and imbibed by students in order to curb the negative influence of celebrities on
students.
